At Bessemer City Middle School, our school counselors provide valuable support to students, families, staff and the community. They help students succeed by offering a variety of direct and indirect services.

Direct Student Services
Our counselors work directly with students through in-person interactions, offering:

  • School Counseling Core Curriculum: Structured lessons that help students build important knowledge, skills and attitudes for their grade level. These lessons are delivered through classroom and group activities in partnership with teachers and other staff.
  • Individual Student Planning: Activities that guide students in setting personal goals and making future plans.
  • Responsive Services: Support for students’ immediate needs through individual or small-group counseling and crisis response.

Indirect Student Services
Counselors also provide services on behalf of students by working with parents, teachers, school staff and community organizations. This includes making referrals, offering consultation and collaborating to ensure students get the support they need.

At Bessemer City Middle School, our counselors are dedicated to helping every student reach their full potential.
